Anthony D. Terracina, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Anthony D. Terracina Dr. Terracina graduated from The University of Mississippi Medical Center and obtained his training at the nationally renowned Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX.  He and his family moved from Panama City Florida where he developed and served as the director of the bariatric program at Gulf Coast Medical Center and Bay Medical Center. He moved to our area in 2004 to bring the laparascopic approach to our program and is a leader in our area in bringing new approaches to the field of minimally invasive weight loss surgery.

Dr. Terracina is the one of the most experienced minimally invasive surgeon in the state of Virginia. He has performed over 1800 laparascopic weight loss procedures  and is the most experienced LAP-BAND surgeon in our area with over 650 procedures to date. Dr Terracina enjoys providing patients with cutting edge approaches to weight loss surgery to assist them with meeting their personal goal of good health.

Dr. Terracina is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Society of Bariatric Surgery and the American Medical Association.  Dr Terracina is also a certified proctor and instructor for Ethicon Endosurgery, teaching other surgeons the technique of minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Terracina has been a great addition to the Weight Loss Surgery Center of Hampton Roads, P.C. and truly enjoys his patients and this specialized field within general surgery.  With Dr. Terracina's complete commitment to only weight loss surgery he feels he not only has  the expertise in his chosen field of medicine but also the commitment to the needs of the weight loss surgery patient.

 

Thomas W. Clark, M.S., M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Thomas W. Clark Dr. Clark graduated from Davidson College and The Wake Forest University School of Medicine in North Carolina. He and his family have lived on the Virginia Peninsula since 1994. He is certified by theAmerican Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, the American Society of Bariatric Physicians, the American Medical Association, and the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity.

Dr. Clark is one of the most experienced surgeons in Virginia having performed more than 2000 weight loss surgery procedures (vertical banded gastroplasty/gastric bypass and LAP-BAND) since 1994.  Dr. Clark founded the Weight Loss Surgery Center of Hampton Roads in 2002 in order to provide comprehensive surgical, educational and support services for his patients.  Dr. Clark has been the Bariatric Program Medical Director at the Sentara CarePlex Hospital since 2003.

Dr. Clark has chosen to dedicate his entire practice to weight loss surgery and medical weight loss.  In order to fully complement services available to patients, he has passed his written and oral boards in bariatric medicine as well.  He feels that this sub-specialty within his profession gives his patients a unique opportunity to optimize their weight loss with his medical and surgical expertise.  He truly enjoys working with his patients to assist them in meeting or exceeding their health goals. Dr. Clark states “Weight loss can change lives forever. That is the most satisfying thing to me and gives true meaning to what I am doing”.
